La prochaine édition du Trail de Fontfroide aura lieu le Samedi 16 & Dimanche 17 Mars 2024, sur les terres des Corbières, au départ de l'Abbaye de Fontfroide, portée par le club ACNM de Narbonne, les Partenaires, les organisateurs et les bénévoles.
Au fil des ans le Trail de Fontfroide est devenu une des courses à pied phare d’Occitanie, soutenu par la Ville de Narbonne, la Région Occitanie, le Département de l’Aude, le Parc Naturel Régional de la Narbonnaise et des partenaires privés : le Domaine de Jonquières, le Domaine d’Aussières et l’Abbaye de Fontfroide qui accordent chaque année les droits de passage sur leurs domaines et leur confiance pour l’organisation de cet évènement.
500 concurrents étaient au départ en 2015, quatre ans plus tard, 1500 franchirent la ligne d’arrivée. Entretemps, un nouvel élan avait été apporté à l’épreuve en 2019 avec une organisation au départ du site prestigieux de l’abbaye de Fontfroide, nichée au cœur du Massif du même nom. Une abbaye millénaire, des paysages sauvages et préservés classés Natura 2000, des pistes forestières et des petits singles, quelques ascensions dont la fameuse montée de la Croix de Fontfroide, les éléments sont réunis pour une belle aventure sportive et humaine.
Et c’est tout logiquement que le Trail de Fontfroide s’inscrit depuis plusieurs années dans une démarche éco-responsable de mise en valeur, de protection et de sensibilisation de ce patrimoine naturel. Des actions mises en place pendant les courses qui en 2019 ont permis au club support l’ACNM de recevoir le certificat d’adhésion à la Charte Natura 2000 du site Corbières Orientales. La même année le Trail de Fontfroide (34 km) obtient l’inscription au Trail Tour National et devient support des Championnats d’Occitanie.
