Domenica 13 aprile, con partenza alle ore 9.00 da via delle Terme di Caracalla e arrivo allo stadio Nando Martellini, torna la Roma Appia Run. Giunta alle XXVI edizione, una delle gare più affascinanti del running capitolino, si presenta alla città di Roma con una veste tutta nuova, per celebrare lo sport, la cultura e la storia in un evento unico nel suo genere, che combina tradizione e innovazione, rendendo omaggio alla Città Eterna e ai suoi tesori. La novità principale di quest’anno è rappresentata dal percorso: per la prima volta, da quando la Roma Appia Run è nata, è previsto un passaggio esclusivo alle catacombe di San Callisto: nell’anno giubilare, infatti, gli atleti avranno l’opportunità unica di attraversare questo suggestivo sito, uno dei luoghi simbolo della cristianità, aggiungendo un tocco di spiritualità e storia millenaria al percorso. «In occasione dell'anno giubilare - spiega Roberto De Benedittis, ideatore e organizzatore della Roma Appia Run - abbiamo voluto dare un'impronta che richiamasse i temi della cristianità. Abbiamo chiesto e ci è stato concesso, il passaggio all'interno delle Catacombe di San Callisto, un luogo magico per gli aspetti religiosi, culturali e paesaggistici. Attraverso questo passaggio siamo stati in grado di ottenere un allungamento della distanza principale (km 16,700) e aggiungerne un'altra (km 9,900) che sicuramente stimolerà tanti altri podisti a iscriversi alla manifestazione. Questa poi sarà un’edizione doppiamente speciale perché sarà la prima a corrersi sulla via Appia, da quando la celebre "regina viarum" è diventata Patrimonio Mondiale dell'Unesco».
